Join Pelham Pathways for Our Last Guided Hike of Summer 2026: Little Island Pond & BBQ Lunch
Pelham Pathways and the Community Trail Coalition invite you to join us for a guided hike at the Little Island Pond Conservation Area on Saturday, July 18th at 10:00 AM.
This will be our last scheduled guided hike of the summer, and we hope you will join us for a relaxing morning on the trails, followed by a casual backyard BBQ.
The hike will begin at the end of the cul-de-sac on Nature’s Way in Pelham, near the Little Island Pond Conservation Area kiosk. Parking is available along the side of the cul-de-sac. The hike is expected to last approximately 1½ hours and is rated easy, making it a welcoming opportunity for those who enjoy a gentle walk in nature.
Because space is limited to 15 participants, registration is required and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, please visit the Community Trail Coalition page on the Pelham Pathways website at Pelhampathways.com.
After the hike, participants are invited to gather for a casual BBQ at 103 Dutton Road in Pelham. Complimentary BBQ chicken and shrimp will be provided. Guests are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
We are also grateful to Hannaford’s of Pelham for providing snacks and water to help keep hikers energized along the way.
We are delighted that this hike will be led by Dorayne Passler, one of Pelham Pathways’ wonderful volunteer hike guides.
Dorayne is a retired clinical chemist who spent her career in the biomedical field, but her heart has always been drawn to the outdoors. A lifelong nature enthusiast, she finds joy in hiking, walking, wildlife, wildflowers, trees, and the quiet beauty of the natural world.
Dorayne believes strongly in the importance of staying active as we age, and she sees hiking as a wonderful way to keep the body strong, the mind refreshed, and the spirit renewed. She especially enjoys introducing others to new trails, hidden gems, and the simple pleasure of spending time outside.
Dorayne brings a wealth of experience to her role as a hike guide, having hiked with the Appalachian Mountain Club and with travel groups throughout the United States, Canada, and beyond. Her adventures have taken her to National Parks across North America, Machu Picchu in Peru, waterfalls in Chile and Argentina, South Africa, Italy, and Greece.
Here in Pelham, Dorayne enjoys sharing her growing knowledge of birds, plants, and local trails. She leads easy to moderate hikes and nature walks with warmth, curiosity, and a welcoming spirit. We are very fortunate to have her as part of the Community Trail Coalition’s guided hike program.
Learn More About Little Island Pond Before You Go
Before the hike, we encourage participants to visit the Community Trail Coalition page on the Pelham Pathways website. There, you can download a brochure about the Little Island Pond Conservation Area as well as a trail map to help you become familiar with the area before you arrive.
What to Bring
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen and insect repellent. Snacks and water will be provided.
In the event of bad weather, the hike will be cancelled. Please check the Events page at Pelhampathways.com for updates before heading out.
Looking Ahead
After the July 18th hike, the guided hike program will take a short summer break. Our next scheduled hike will be at Benson Park in Hudson, New Hampshire, on Saturday, September 12th at 10:00 AM.
We look forward to seeing you on the trail — and sharing a meal together afterward!
Harmony Park Update: Help Bring This Beautiful Park to Life
Pelham Pathways is also excited to share a brief update on Harmony Park at Pulpit Rock Lodge. The park is beginning to take shape, and there is already wonderful progress to celebrate. The pollinator garden is growing, trail planning continues, and the beehives are thriving. As of June 2026, Harmony Park is back up to three hives. All three hives are strong, active, and producing brood. Additional brood boxes have been added to give the bees more room, and one hive is already busy enough to have a honey super added.
Harmony Park will become a peaceful, welcoming place where people can walk, enjoy nature, learn about pollinators, and experience the beauty of this special property. But we still need community support to make the vision a reality.
Please consider making a donation to support the building of Harmony Park. Every dollar helps bring this beautiful park to life.
You can donate online at the Pelham Pathways website, or send a check to:

103 Dutton Road
Pelham, NH 03076
Please note on the check memo line that the donation is restricted to Harmony Park.
Thank you for helping Pelham Pathways create another special outdoor space for our community.
